| Out on a Monday? Yes! You see the Philbeach Hotel in London's Earls Court is a popular gathering point for t*girls and admirers on a Monday night and I was off out for a drink and a chinnywag with my (camera shy) friend Dannielle Jones and as we had both been busy at the weekend there seemed no better place to rendez-vous than at the Philly (as it is affectionately called). However, I chose to wear a skirt that was just a little bit on the short side... |

![]() ![]() Anyway, I'm no novice at wearing short skirts so without further ado I hit the road and rolled into the Philbeach at around 10p.m. The bar was rather crowded and a bit stuffy and it was a reasonably warm summer night so Dannielle and I decided to sit outside. |
And now you see what happened when I sat down. I sat on that bench for most of the night and no-one said a word to me. I did get rather admiring stares from a shortish bloke that looked a bit like George Bush and from one or two other unspecified admirers who hung in the air like flies around a piece of rotting meat. Why didn't they just say something? If they had have been nice I might have let them correct my hemline for me (if they were any good at stitching). If I make it sound like the Phibeach is some kind of seedy pick-up joint then I'd be underselling its virtues. It's a relaxed kind of place where a lot of girls go to meet their friends and have a natter, but it dies have its nefarious undercurrents too. My advice, for what it's worth - if you're going for the first time - go with someone you know. Oh, and make sure you pull the hem of your skirt down before you take a seat on a low bench...! |
