No Cannes do! (13 July 2003)

	Having explored the night life of Nice earlier in the weel, me and the gang decided we should check out a place called 'Discothèque Le 7' in Cannes on the Côte D'Azur (in France, obviously) which we were told had a good transexual drag cabaret. What an understatement that would turn out to be… Back at 'Villa Travestie' we all got ready to go out again. As with our trip out a couple of days before, we waited until the sun had set to get ready as it was just far too warm and sunny to wear anything other than a bikini during the day. Do you like the shoes? Angela loaned them to me as she reckoned they made me a sure thing to 'pull'. I'll leave it to your imagination as to whether they worked or not! Do I look tanned? Well we did have some very lovely weather.
Here's the group of us again just before going out. Don't ask me why Anastasia is grimacing quite like that. She had hurt her arm dancing the previous night and was in a fair bit of pain but being the die-hard party transvestite that she is, she put on a brave face and a short skirt, took a few painkillers, and came out partying with the rest of us. I'm still not sure about that grimace though…! Meanwhile, Deborah (in the centre) decided to adopt the persona of a mafia wife and certainly looked the part. I wouldn't want to bump into her in a dark alley late at night (though I'm sure there are lots of people who enjoy that kind of thing!)	From the left… Celeste, Connie, Deborah, Anastasia and Me
We turned up a little early to see the cabaret at Discothèque Le 7 so we called in next door but one at a small gay bar called 'Le Divan'. Not the most exciting place on the planet and they had a very odd choice of music but at least the drinks prices were reasonable and the seats cozy (as demonstrated by our model here). When we finally made it to Le 7 and the cabaret began, we were treated to what has to be one of the finest drag cabarets in the world. The dancers were absolutely stunning (well they were transsexuals which I guess helps). The picture isn't very good as after I took the first one I was told I wasn't allowed to take any more so you will just have to take my word for it! If you are in Cannes, GO, you won't regret it.
After the cabaret is over (it lasts about an hour) the stage becomes a dance-floor and the music goes on until the very early hours (or late, depending on your viewpoint!) We went on a Sunday (albeit a French bank-holiday weekend) and it was nearly full. Heavens only knows how busy it must get on a Friday or on a Saturday night!
