Vicky's Vault - Tranny pictures galore

Tranny Week at St Audries Bay (17 May 2002)
Vicky at homeThe ever kind Frankie and his gorgeous assistant Wendy invited me over to go out with them to visit a 'tranny week' being put together by the Beaumont Society at a 'camp' site not too far from where they and I lived at a place called St. Audries Bay Holiday Club on the north Somerset coast.

Here I am at home just before I headed out. A real first for me this, leaving the house and driving the hour and a half to Frankie's. Nothing new there. But actually there is, as I was fully dressed and it was in full daylight. The first time I have seen the light of day so to speak!

Vicky Valentine and Frankie TVHere's Frankie and me Chez GlamTran just before we headed out to brave the often crowded and dangerous roads of the South West of England.

Beauty Pageant winnersAs we arrived at the Holiday Club the organisers were running a tranny beauty pageant. We were enthralled, overwhelmed, bedazzled, bored silly (one of those) as 25 lovelies took to the stage and went through the ritual humiliation of being asked their age, occupation, hobbies, that kind of thing. "My name is… err… Dave… ooops I mean Davina. I work as a… err… welder… ooops I mean beautician…" - you get the general idea.

Here are the 3 glamorous winners whose names, due to omni-selective amnesia, sadly escape me. I think the one on the right was called Veronique (she was from the Netherlands) as the compare, or should that be 'camp' comic, seemed to have incredible difficulty in getting her name right. Well, how could he/she be expected to pronounce something foreign with a 'q' in it?

Back at the barMeanwhile, back at the centre of action (the bar), Frankie and I lounged around stopping people from getting to what appeared to be the only way to numb the pain of the rather poor entertainment.

But Lo! As if by divine intervention, at 11pm the organisers (referred to by those in the know as 'the committee') saw fit to allow the DJ to play some dance tunes, on the one record deck they had. At least Frankie, Wendy and I managed to strut our stuff for a while before we retreated.

The party posse

An entertaining night at the very least, least being the operative word. It does make me wonder, and this is not meant as a criticism, but I do wonder what exactly the Beaumont Society believe they are trying to achieve, as the consensus from those attending was that they were less than friendly (one girl even told us that she had been approached one afternoon and told that her skirt was too short, and would she mind wearing something more befitting in the future). Still, each to their own and I'm sure they do a lot of good.

My heartfelt thanks to Frankie and Wendy for being so welcoming to me. What a lovely couple, I wish you both the very best.
