Trans-MISSION - TX1 (22 June 2002)

Saturday 22 June marked the long-awaited launch of London's new transvestite club, Trans-MISSION, which has been put together by my over-worked and under-appreciated girl-in-crime Jasmine Clarke and me. After a frantic hour spent preparing our venue, the Extra Time bar in London's Barbican, for an event the likes of which it had never seen before, we used our own changing facilities to get ready so at least we know they work! At 9 p.m. the doors opened and we awaited with immense anticipation to see how it would go. By 11 p.m., we had had 60 visitors and can you believe it, we topped out at 140 visitors by the end of the night. Fantastic. Enough for us to cover our costs, so if we can keep up that kind of number on a regular basis when we re-start after the summer, we should be able to make a go of it and achieve our goal of providing something different and special for the tranny community in and around London. Don't forget to play your part and come along and support us! It was really nice to see so many friends there. In (exactly!) 7 months of going out dressed I do seem to have amassed more than my fair share of acquaintances. Thanks to everyone who came, especially to the girls from Bristol who must have gotten home very late indeed!

The Bristol Devas Sharne here (on the right in the picture above) had the most exquisite Burberry shoes that you've ever seen and was using the opportunity to pose for the camera, so I just had to join in. Obviously.

From left to right… Sharon, Maria and Siobhan One of the friends I have known the longest, Sharon, had taken a few days off work and was able to make it over to London from her home in Wales to join in the fun. She was a superstar and helped out with the cloak-room before meeting up with the girls from Bristol who we had both met on a previous night out in the West Country, plus meeting a whole load of new people who seemed to recognise her much to her surprise. There were loads of my tranny friends at the club too and sadly I didn't get pictures of everyone 'cos I was a bit too busy trying to make sure everyone was enjoying themselves, DJing and so on… We even had a few celebrities in the house. Below is a picture of the girls that were being escorted by Jodie Lynn of The Boudoir who all looked like a million dollars (and Siobhan who seemed to get everywhere.) Oh, and a special thanks to Mandy for the present. Gotta get up, gotta get up, gotta get up… That was really sweet of you babe, and totally unnecessary, you're an angel.
