All was going well, the traffic wasn't too bad and Jasmine and I arrived around 10.45pm (not particularly late as we normally aren't again before). Now anyone who has been to the WayOut will tell you that the stairs down to the club area are torture in themselves, however I negotiated them with no problem. BUT, no sooner had I straightened myself up ready for a grand entrance than fate befell me and I stumbled just briefly, but long enough to make my ankle all hurty. A short investigation later revealed - I had in fact torn a ligament in my poor ankle and |

| So if you saw me and wondered why I didn't come over for a chat - believe me than I say I would have liked nothing more than to have been able to! Thanks to Jasmine for being a trouper and getting me safely home (even if I did drive) and to Julia for the shoulder to lean on (quite literally) and 'HI' to Mel - we'll have a longer chat next time, and wish me luck! I'm supposed to be going out on New Years Eve and time will tell whether I shall be able to walk again by then… And as for the shoes - they will be out again - they're actually very comfy¹! |

| ¹ How can 5-inch heels possibly be comfortable? Well, for starters there is about a one inch platform on the sole which means that your foot experiences more of a 4-inch height differential rather than a 5-inch one, which makes a critical difference in long-term comfort levels. Also, the shoes in question have lots of (in this case silver) straps which clasp the foot firmly into their torture chamber, in all the right places. Such solid 'trussing' means the shoes don't flop about but remain squarely where they should be - on your foot. Also, the heel isn't too thin, which helps with stability. And finally, the heel and soles have a nice rubber covering which grips the floor well meaning there's less likelihood of slippage. How did I fall off them then if they are so good? My foot went sideways and with all that trussing and support my ankle got twisted. Still, you know what they say, and as far as shoes go it's 100% true, 'no gain without pain'! | |
